The Push Stars

A Band Update from the desk of CHRIS TRAPPER

Greetings Everyone,

Just thought I should give a little update on my fellow Push Stars alumnus.
To dispel any negative ideas (someone told me a rumor about us that was all sorts of wrong) I should say right off the bat that that Dan, Ryan and I have had an uninterrupted, beautiful friendship. We are all supportive of one anothers' seperate projects, and speak about once a week. We are a rare example of a band that, given the right timing, could and would pick up where we left off with no problem. We do talk frequently about making more music together, but we all seem to be too busy to put a plan in motion, which is ultimately a good thing.

Dan (McLoughlin) now owns and operates a recording studio / music school in Hoboken, NJ. The studio is called the Vault, and the school is called Garden Street Music. I've been to the studio many times, and have recorded there as well. It is a totally state of the art, brilliant place to make music, and seems to be a self-feeding enterprise as well, as the students grow into budding rock stars.

Dan's also been active as both a panelist and guest speaker on the music conference circuit, sharing his thoughts and knowledge on current affairs in the music business with aspiring musicians.

Most recently, Dan scored the film Calling it Quits which won a very prestigious Long Island Film Festival award for best original song (co-written by yours truly) and the film is now featuring at the Venice film festival. He just wrapped recording projects with Armor For Sleep, Jennings, The Breakmission, and Natasha Komis (from Paris Hilton's BFF)

Ryan (MacMillan) wrapped up a year of touring and recording with Matchbox Twenty, took a short breather and has now teamed up with respected guitarist / songwriter Philip Sayce, who is known for playing alongside Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Healy and Uncle Kracker.  They've been doing weekly gigs at Molly Malones in Los Angeles, and are playing several Jazz and Blues festivals over the summer, and then embarking on a European tour in september. This is a new gig for Ryan, and I can tell he loves it, in particular because it is new musical territory for him.

One of the coolest things I've seen is the 90 minute feature of Ryan on Drumchannel.com. There's about 45 minutes of interview, and some amazing live drumming. It's a really revealing look at how a great drummer comes to be, and all the ingredients that sustain a long term love for the drums.

That's the news.  Thanks for listening.

Chris Trapper
