CHRIS TRAPPER GUEST LECTURES AT STEVENSON COLLEGE, EDINBURGH
Monday, December 07, 2009
The Music staff and students at Stevenson were delighted to hear a lecture by Chris Trapper, singer and songwriter, at the College on Monday 7 December.
Chris Trapper is a musician based in Boston, Massachusetts. His songs have been winning awards as well as the hearts of the devoted listeners since his arrival on the Boston music scene in 1995. He is most widely known as the front man for the nationally acclaimed pop/rock band The Push Stars.
Chris began his lecture by performing six live tracks (playing acoustic guitar & singing) from his song catalogue. He entertained the captivated audience with group information and quirky stories before, after and during each performance.
He is a very honest and charismatic artist, who took the time to answer a barrage of open questions from an enthusiastic group of students; a truly inspiring insight into Chris's life as a singer/songwriter.
Chris was totally overwhelmed with our music students' interest in his career and spent over an hour chatting and signing autographs after the lecture.
Staff and students were left buzzing afterwards and he has promised to return during his next European tour - we can't wait!

My sincerest apologies, but I was turned away from the Canadian border and sent back to the states, due to (a very minor glitch in paperwork) I was really upset and so determined to get across that I tried four times in two days.
These dates will be rescheduled in the very near future.
Sleep well Canadians! there will one less scary and dangerous folk singer crossing your border this week.

Chris Trapper, the former front man from the beloved 90s/00s alternative rock group The Push Stars, continues to advance in his solo career.
Trapper returns to town on Wed. Oct. 28 for a show at the Village Tavern in Mt. Pleasant. Since his last showing at the Tavern,
Trapper has put out a new album, entitled Til the Last Leaf Falls. One of his latest songs, This Time, emerged as the numberone
selling tune on the Grammynominated soundtrack August Rush. Trapper has spent much of 2009 on the road playing all over the United States and Canada,
and even has a trip planned to Scotland and Germany later this year. His style has stayed consistent however, keeping in tune with his alternative
acoustic music with a modernday folk twist. Trapper is best known for his downtoearth lyrics and organic approach to classic pop.

October 01, 2009 Rochester City Paper
All three members of the currently shelved Push Stars wont rule out a reunion; just not right now. Theyre all too busy, especially front man and
principle songwriter Chris Trapper. Trapper has been doing the solo thing for a while, branching out here and there to include Dixieland, of all
things, a few years back with Gone Again. Trappers music is multifaceted yet uncomplicated. Its casual and cool with elements of classic pop and
folk, strummed with a decided swing and ease.

THE CHRIS TRAPPER COVER ME SONG CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED! June 19, 2009!
I just wanted to say to everyone that I am so honestly flattered right now. I really feel unworthy.
When my manager and I first thought of the idea to do a contest, it originally sprang from the fact that people
had been posting on youtube, or telling me about their covers of my tunes. I thought there'd be a handful of submissions, and I got 50.
And thats no small feat. Believe me, to take the time to learn the chords, find the lyrics, borrow a camera, etc...
were talking about serious commitment and dedication to a cause, and I feel so grateful. I can't believe it.
Now the contest, it was kind of tongue in cheek, because whos to judge? I'm probably the worst judge of covers
of my own songs, because Ive heard them MY way 5 million times, so Id probably like them backwards, in Spanish,
and at double speed the best.
So please take it for what it is, an excercise in the love of songwriting and singing,
enjoyed by people not because its been mass marketed to them, but because they first heard it in a beer soaked night
club one night, maybe when they least expected it.
You all definitely gave me a boost when I least expected it.
THE CHRIS TRAPPER COVER ME SONG CONTEST Open For Business! Now Accepting Entries for the Spring 2009 Competition!

INK 19 The Glass Bottom Boat of the Cultural Press CD Review: Til The Last Leaf Falls
February 2009 INK 19
Given the exceptional creative arc maintained by his three previous albums, culminating now with this
Til The Last Leaf Falls is Boston singersongwriter Chris Trappers
fourth solo record and is another stellar collection of the kind of
wistful, undeniably melodic folkpop songs which have become his
trademark.
The former Push Stars frontman has found a new lease of life as a solo
artist and Til The Last Leaf Falls arguably shows him at the peak of
his creative powers.
Opener This Time was featured prominently in the soundtrack for the
August Rush soundtrack and is classic Trapper, with its mid tempo riff
and introspective lyrics, while the vivid sketch of unrequited love
contained in the lyrics of Wait a Lifetime confirms him as one of
lifes hopeless romantics.
With a full band behind him, Trappers songs always strike a chord, but
the sheer simplicity of the acoustic Look What The Wind Blew In
contrasts with his powerful lyrics of bitter regret and disappointment,
to be a real album highlight. The uptempo pop of Least Youre
Breathing and Black Eye show another side to Trappers songwriting
mastery, while the atmospheric title track and jaunty Black Hearted
Bride again demonstrate the diversity of his material.
But its the quite outstanding Cost of Constant Travelling which
steals the show, thanks in no small part to some typically understated
guitar work from guest player Duke Levine.
In these troubled and uncertain times, the enduring beauty that can be
found throughout almost every song on Til The Last Leaf Falls is
something to be truly thankful.
PERFORMING SONGWRITER MAGAZINE CD Review: Til The Last Leaf Falls
March/April 2009 DIY - TOP 12 PICKS
Given the exceptional creative arc maintained by his three previous albums, culminating now with this
wonderful offering, New England songsmith and former Push Stars frontman Chris Trapper continues
to dazzle even as hes inexplicably escaped attention from the world at large. With their rich, evocative
ambiance, his songs consistently provide an immediate listenability.
Its that mesh of aural imagery, supple arrangements and emotive delivery that imbues this album with a
sound both supple and stirring, from the skyward gaze of Black Hearted Bride; to the irresistibly
infectious Black Eye. So too, Look What the Wind Blew In, Across the World and Curbside View all
demonstrate how the allure of a solitary stance can still resonate and, indeed, radiate ever so brightly. LZ
